I have been wanting to write for ever, for as long as I can remember my name, for as long as I have been breathing, for as long as this enormous pile of frustration has been building inside me, but for a weird reason I have been polite and been postponing it!!
But now.. tatataaa, no more polite me, I’m finally writing down my thoughts about the Lebanese fashion clichés.
- It’s not because it’s a brand that it is nice
- We all love Chanel 2.55 and Birkin bags but it takes more to be stylish. Yes they are iconic so keep them that way please! Coco and Jane created them for a reason, for their classiness, and not for you to take it on a spin in imaginary colors that your son came up with on Microsoft Paint
- Wearing logos all over your freaking body is NOT fashionable, oh and this can be coupled with, the bigger logo no its not better
- Hermes “H” belts are sooooo 2000 and late so get over it, unless you are really wearing it in a very classy manner like the French, which I honestly doubt!
- Collecting Love and Juste un Clou bracelets is stupid – particularly if they are fake and your friend is a fashion blogger who can spot the minutest detail that it is fake
- If you can’t afford an original bag, don’t carry a fake one, it will only make you look tackier, faker, stupider, wannabe, and a whole lot of things so just invest in timeless leather pieces, original creations, … (this applies to watches and other luxury items)
- Painting shoes’ soles red is stupid – and when it’s fuschia, pink, hot pink or any other varying hue…yes, we can spot it
- Simplicity is beauty: don’t think that you have to overdo it to be fashionable. This means clashing Chanel with Hermes with D&G with Louboutin with Missoni with a bit of Diesel oh and a tad of Herve Leger and just a bit of a top I stole from my daughter is overdoing it
- Dress for your body. Wear items that suit you, not the latest trends. Herve Leger is slimming and contouring but trust me if you are drenching in cellulite there is no freaking way you will be looking like Adriana Lima so just drop it!
- The saying “less is more” doesn’t mean you have to wear less fabric
- Don’t copy – create your own style, try to be different and creative
- Don’t wear the trends altogether
- Heels are not necessarily stylish and wearing casual outfits is a good thing
- Talking about heels, don’t wear them if you can’t walk in them
- If you wear bold outfits, be subtle on the make up and by the way not all of you will look like Haifa Wehbe if you copy her makeup (whoever thought she set a standard better commit suicide now)
- Ditch neon, bows, skulls and studs and never ever wear them altogether
- Nail designs are not okay
- It is okay to admit to buy (and like) stuff from high street shops – actually smart shoppers are those who know how to mix. Besides you creeping people, half the country survives on a salary less then you know what so you really wanted us to believe you owned 5 Birkins in exotic skin??
- Hervé Leger dresses and Louboutin shoes are not the only wedding outfits out there
- Be natural, be yourself
My list could go on and on.
But I’m stopping here today.
